UFV LEED Gold!
CTA is proud to announce the University of the Fraser Valley Student Union Building has achieved LEED Gold certification.
This three storey, 2,800 sm Student Centre is a one stop shopping of numerous student services and activities. The energy efficient, sustainable design is achieved through a high quality envelope, careful material selection, daylighting and high efficiency mechanical system.

We are proud to have been part of the Applied Arts team to deliver this complex project – a 26,917 sm (289,732 sf) new campus for the Emily Carr University of Art + Design. A purpose-built institution of art and design, it is unlike anything seen before, captivating and motivating a new generation of thinkers, creators and makers.

CTA PROJECT FEATURED ON NATURALLY:WOOD
We’re proud to have our DFO Port Hardy Coast Guard Station project featured on naturally:wood.
Given the relatively remote location of Port Hardy, careful consideration was given to the design of this building to maximize the use of local materials and labour. Local wood species were used where possible, featuring western red cedar and Douglas fir. Using 154 cubic meters of wood, the GHG emissions are equivalent to: 81 cars off the road for 1 year; or the energy to operate 41 homes for 1 year.
CTA & AHL Partnering on New BYU Hawaii Math & Science Building
CTA is pleased to announce we are partnering with Architects Hawaii Ltd. to program and design a new Science & Math Building at Brigham Young University Hawaii, containing 34,000 square feet of Teaching Labs & classrooms. BYU Hawaii is located in Laie on the northern end of Oahu.
This is our second collaboration with Architects Hawaii Ltd.
CTA is happy to congratulate Intern Architect Samaneh Abrishamkar on winning the "Canadian Construction Women Annual Award" bursary.
Held every February, the bursary helps to support and retain women in the industry and to increase women’s representation in the field. Samaneh is one of two winners, along with Kimberlyn Nolan from PCL.
Samaneh has been a member of CCW for the last two years and recently became a board member.

A new facility for accelerating the clean energy innovation cycle opened in Seattle today. The Clean Energy Institute (CEI), a research unit at the University of Washington (UW), created the Washington Clean Energy Testbeds to increase the rate at which breakthrough science and engineering discoveries turn into market-adopted clean energy technologies. The state-of-the-art user facility has labs for manufacturing prototypes, testing devices, and integrating systems. CEI unveiled the Testbeds at a celebration with Washington Governor Jay Inslee, cleantech leaders, and clean energy researchers.
emily carr campus on track to open in Fall 2017
In its 285,000 square feet, the new building will include a state-of-the-art, fibre-optic network, studios for metalworking, ceramics, pottery and sculpture, a covered outdoor area and a 400-seat theatre. The new Emily Carr University is designed to LEED Gold standards.
CTA is is part of the Applied Arts design team and Coordinating Registered Professional for the new campus.
