CTA has over 25 years experience on Public Safety projects for many clients including the cities of Vancouver, Surrey, Coquitlam, Port Moody, Abbotsford, Mission, as well as Port Metro Vancouver and the Justice Institute of British Columbia. Project types include Fire Halls, Police Facilities, and Bylaw and Enforcement.

FIRE HALLS

We have designed many new state of the art fire halls.

 

Burke Mountain Fire Hall  Coquitlam, BC

A new 1,622 sm fire hall featuring four double-deep truck bays complete with Community Room and crew facilities. The facility also includes an on-site fueling station.

 

Inlet Centre Fire Hall  Port Moody, BC

A new facility provides 2 sets of high bay parking areas for 7 trucks in total, and administration, on-call and training facilities as well as a vintage truck exhibit. This is a post-disaster facility.

Fire Hall 8  Abbotsford, BC

A new facility to provide two new drive-through bays serving a growing muncipality. This project is designed to LEED silver standards.

 

Fire Hall 14  Surrey, BC

A new Fire Hall designed to be a contemporary landmark in a high profile site in a fast growing area of Surrey. Three truck bays are provided and a traditional fire pole aids in quick response.

 

 

Mariner Way Fire Hall  Coquitlam, BC

A 17,000 sq foot eight bay fire station designed for "post-disaster" standards. It also has 4 bays for search and rescue vehicles and a base for volunteer activities. This building provides a sense of tradition and civic pride.

 

 

 

Fire Hall  Mission, BC

A new 23,000 sq. ft. eight bay fire station and emergency operations centre for the District of Mission. This "post disaster" building has one bay for their vintage vehicle and is a base for volunteer auxillaries. It also serves as a recreation centre for the staff and their families. The building is located on a seismically sensitive site and provisions for additional measures for foundations and site servicing was required.

POLICE FACILITIES

CTA has completed numerous projects for Police Facilities in Vancouver and Surrey.

 

 

 

Vancouver Police Department Dog Squad  Vancouver, BC

This project includes 4,300 sf of office and kennel area and 2,700 sf of outside run and obstacle area for the Vancouver Police Dog Squad. The new facility includes 20 enclosed 2-compartment dog kennels, police change room and shower facilities, fitness area, and operation and dispatch offices. A geo-thermal system was implemented in this project to provide heating and cooling for the building as well as the kennels. There is a covered spectator area for the visitors to view training activities.

 

 

 

 

RCMP Detachment  Surrey, BC

RCMP Main Detachment interior renovations improved multiple departments, including interview rooms, the emergency call centre, evidence room, training rooms, etc. The computer server project included a doubling of the size of the computer server room, complete with new mechanical room for primary back-up cooling systems. Renovations were also done to a former vehical bay to provide new DNA identification facilities, including storage/examination area and two laser analysis rooms.

 

Port Police Facilities  Vancouver, BC

CTA has provided services for renovations to the Port Police facilities in order to accommodate improved security documentation processing, and in a separate project to the Ballantyne Pier for improved passenger processing.

Community Policing Station  Vancouver, BC

CTA was engaged by the City of Vancouver to provide full architectural services on the VPD Granville Street Community Policing Station. The 700 sq. ft. project includes a small public service area with a public police reporting computer terminal, a police volunteer area, offices for two staff, two mobile docking stations for patrol officers' laptop computers, a meeting room, kitchenette, and washroom.

BYLAW ENFORCEMENT & ANIMAL CARE FACILITIES

CTA has designed several facilities for Animal Care and/or Bylaw Enforcement including 5 facilities containing kennels. We have also carried out planning studies for Bylaw Enforcement Facilities.

 

Surrey Animal Care  Surrey, BC

A new state-of-the-art facility for dogs, cats, and other small animals that maximizes opportunities for adoptions and designed to LEED Silver capabilities. Seperate facilities also include boarding kennels and a livestock barn.

 

Coquitlam Animal Care  Coquitlam, BC

A facility that includes a seperate administration building and kennels, both designed with a plesant home-like quality. Accommodation is provided for dogs and cats and for adoptable, recent arrivals, quarantine and boarding.
