Floating Hotel  Vancouver, BC

This extension to the existing Granville Island Hotel proposes new floating units on the water in False Creek. The boatel layout provides for eleven 4-unit buildings sited to maximize views for the guest rooms and the public. The plan incorporates several lagoons which create water open spaces with the central lagoon providing a public float for gondolas that tour False Creek. The large units feature single-storey, and 2-storey with loft layouts.

First Narrows Floating CO-OP  Vancouver, BC

This design provides for 45 residential berths for boats and floating homes with a common building for communal activities and utility functions such as laundry, showers, and workshop. The existing residents worked together to secure a lease from a developer in order to maintain their floating lifestyle and to ensure that they would not be displaced by new development.

Sanctuary Cove Floating Homes  Brisbane, Australia

An eighteen unit floating home community involving the design of four floor plans with alternate elevations as part of a large development at Sanctuary Cove near Brisbane in Australia. Chernoff Thompson Architects developed a site layout for the homes, and designed a floating dock system.

Finn Slough  Richmond, BC

An existing community located along the Fraser River in an environmentally sensitive setting. In the early 1900s Finnish fishermen settled with their families in the slough and over the years have maintained a compatible relationship with their surroundings. The project involves an upgrade to walkways, access and services to reflect current standards.

San Diego Waterfront  San Diego, California

The site is located in a protected bay in San Diego, U.S.A. within a strong marine community. The project involved reviewing current uses and activities and preparing a plan for several land and water lots. The plan proposes new uses and redevelopment of existing uses to create a diverse, interesting water front including floating buildings, boatyards, a market, and marina facilities.

Ladner Reach Properties  Delta, BC

A site with excellent views along the Fraser River in Delta, B.C. involved 23 acres comprising a master plan and concepts for floating homes, low density residential and recreational development.
